Government Polytechnic Dhanbad (GP Dhanbad) was established in 1998 at Dhanbad, Jharkhand. Courses

Following Diploma/Polytechnic Courses are available in Government Polytechnic Dhanbad (GP Dhanbad). The first and second semester of every Branch has a common syllabus. From the 3rd semester, students follow their branch syllabus which includes common subjects like Maths and DLS in every branch along with branch papers. Students from the 4th semester have to study their branch papers and in the 5th semester, students are asked for training in industries to get real work experience.

Fee Structure

The fee structure of Government Polytechnic Dhanbad (GP Dhanbad) is almost the same as all of the Government Polytechnic colleges in Jharkhand under the JUT board.   • Library Facilities:- The Government Polytechnic Dhanbad has a well-established library for the students as well as the teaching staff of the college. Students of this college can easily issue the books from the library with their identity cards. When a student passes out they are asked to return the books to the library for dues.
  • Work Shop:- Students of every branch have to study workshops during 1st semester and Government Polytechnic Dhanbad has a well attended workshop for demonstration and practical work. Later students or prospective attachments who have workshops in their syllabus are allowed to visit along with the subject teacher.
  • Hostel Facilities:- GP Dhanbad has a total of 5 hostels for boys which have approx 30 rooms in each hostel. College Hostel has also a mess for students. Students have to pay extra fees of 1000 each year for a hostel. All the hostels are on the college campus and also have fields to play and exercise.
  • Engineering Drawing Classroom:- Government Polytechnic Dhanbad has s special classroom for engineering drawing which has a specific desk there required for engineering drawing and makes it easier for a student to set and use equipment used in engineering drawing. All students of all branches have to study engineering drawing in the first semester of a 3-year diploma at Jharkhand Polytechnic.

Admissions Process

Admission is taken based on the entrance examination taken by the Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (JCECEB). In the Entrance Exam applicants are required to appear for a written test of three hours duration in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Candidates are then called for counselling to allot the College and Branch of study based on performance in the Entrance Test and Candidates’ preferences.
