Is Polytechnic Equivalent to 12th? Diploma Vs 12th.
The 3-year diploma/polytechnic course issued by an institution recognized by the Government shall be considered at par with a +2 certificate.
Polytechnic is a technical course that offers 3-year diploma degrees in various engineering fields such as civil, mechanical, electrical, computer etc.
Class 12th students have a more diverse level of options available, whereas Diploma students are only eligible for the specific genre, of course, corresponding to their diploma.
Polytechnic can be done after the 10th (matriculation) or 12th (Intermediate in Science with Maths). Students from the 12th can take admission in directly the 2nd year of the Diploma Course through lateral entry.
In this post, we will compare Diploma Course with the 12th. What student should prefer after 10th Board (matriculation)?
Polytechnic is a 3-Year Course whereas 12th is 2 years after 10th. Many non-technical government job vacancies allow both 12th and Diploma passed candidates but technical government vacancies like SSC JE, and JSSC JE, it allows only Diploma students.
Not everywhere Polytechnic is not equivalent to 12th in terms of academic qualification, as it does not cover all the subjects taught in 12th such as languages, humanities, commerce etc.
Many organisations allow Diploma students if they mentioned 12th equivalent but you need to check eligibility wisely on the organization’s official notice that the diploma candidates are 12th equivalent or not.
Polytechnic is also not equivalent to 12th regarding career opportunities, as it allows students to take jobs in engineering companies as Junior Engineer Trainees. But after 12th, students have very less chances of getting a non-technical job.
Polytechnic may be better than 12th for some students with a clear interest and aptitude for engineering and who want to pursue practical work in the industry.
One of the key features of polytechnic education is its focus on practical, hands-on learning. Students have access to state-of-the-art equipment, facilities, and labs, enabling them to gain practical experience that they can immediately apply in the workplace.
Polytechnic may also be cheaper and faster than 12th as it takes only three years to complete and offer scholarships or fee waivers for OBCs. ST and SC category students.
Polytechnic is a technical course that offers diploma degrees in various engineering fields. It is not equivalent to 12th in terms of academic qualification or career opportunities, as it does not cover all the subjects or qualify students for higher education. However, it may be better than 12th for some students with a clear interest and aptitude for engineering and who want to pursue practical work in the industry. It may also be cheaper and faster than 12th as it takes only three years to complete.
These are some of the challenges that you may face while doing an engineering diploma. However, you can also overcome them by being proactive, adaptable and resourceful.😊
